Pirates at Lake of the Ozarks

The second day of vacation I am sure everyone there will agree was the best... Sunday morning we were all sitting on the porch of the lower cabins chit chatting and Cole was down by the rock beach just playing in the rocks when he saw something in the water. Cole's was very excited and he runs up to the porch to tell us he sees something in the water, and thinks it is a bottle with a map in it left by some pirates. Cole was able to convince Aunt Jan to come down to the beach and fish it out for him. That bottle had nothing in it just some old beer (yuck)... Cole was so bummed out. This gave grandpa and Aunt Jan an idea....

Grandpa and Aunt Jan decided to come up with a treasure hunt for Cole. He had so much fun (I think Grandpa and Aunt Jan may have had more fun) Grandpa spent the morning drawing up the map and putting out the pirate coins while Cole & his daddy were at the pool. Aunt Jan helped make the map look authentic. While Cole was at the pool he swore he saw a pirate ship and was convinced that they may have left a treasure. (lucky for Grandpa a sail boat came by). (Grandpa had aunt Jan empty the yuck beer out) Grandpa put the map in the bottle (in a Ziplock you know a good pirate would not let his map get wet) and tied it to a string and tied it to a stick that stuck out of the ground. So later that afternoon Cole came back from swimming and went down by the beach to check for another bottle in the Lake. He spotted the bottle right away... Cole knows he cannot go by the lake by himself so he came and got aunt Jan for help to once again fish something out of the lake. It was a pirate map Cole was so excited that pirates had come to the LAKE!! Grandpa, Daddy & Cole went on a treasure hunt. Grandpa read the map & Cole got to find the treasure... Whats a treasure hunt without treasure. Yep there was treasure. Once again the pirates used a ziplock container and filled it with spare change and buried it in the rocks. Cole is still talking about his treasure. Not sure how we can top that next vacation.

The pictures and video show how much fun they had...

Here are some pictures of our vacation. We had a good time just swimming, relaxing and hanging out with with family. Cole was able to run and do pretty much whatever he wanted and Mya just crawled between Grandma & Aunt Jan's cabins and practiced her walking. Matt fished and I laid by the pool and worked on my tan.

4th of July

We had a great 4th of July. First we went to Aunt Sherri's to hang with the family and enjoy BBQ and other goodies. Cole even got to go swimming with Ashleigh. After dinner we headed to the St. Charles Riverfront for Fireworks with friends. Mya did awesome she crawled from person to person and just enjoyed being outside. When the fireworks started Mya did not mind the loud booms she was amazed reaching out thinking she could catch them. Cole and his daddy walked around and rode on some of the rides and came back with some yummy kettle corn. Cole liked the fireworks also. What a great day.

Papa Bird Cole

Last week the neighbor found a birds nest and gave it to Cole. He was so excited, he sat by his nest for quite a while waiting for a Mama bird to lay and egg. He just could not understand why no birds put any eggs in his nest. It was so cute.

Just waiting for the birds

Still waiting.

Super Hero's

Here is another costume by Cole! He created this one while playing with his friend Dyllan. Never know what the kid will come up with next.
